Adult outpatient addiction treatment programs
To best fit the schedules and recovery needs of the individual, Hazelden offers multiple levels of outpatient care at its St. Paul location. Candidates for Hazelden’s outpatient addiction treatment programs are those who do not require medically supervised detoxification or stabilization, have stable mental and physical health, have had few if any prior addiction treatment experiences,
and have a supportive home and work environment. For those that do not have a supportive home environment, a structured sober living option is available. A recommendation for outpatient or residential care is determined through Hazelden’s assessment process.
Hazelden’s outpatient programs work under the same principles and practices as its residential programs, providing individualized focus within the program structure. Patients receive psychological, social, and alcohol and other drug assessments, an individualized treatment plan, and continuing care recommendations. The patient’s experience includes lectures, group therapy, one-to-one counseling with a licensed addiction counselor, Twelve Step meetings, spirituality work, and peer interaction.
Day treatment
Day treatment is an intensive alcohol and drug addiction treatment program for adults. The program includes education, group therapy, and individual work using a holistic recovery approach with the Twelve Steps as the core. The day treatment program runs six hours a day Monday through Friday for four to five weeks.
Intensive outpatient program
The intensive outpatient program is a six-week program that includes assessments and screenings, lectures, group and individual counseling work with Hazelden clinicians. Clients are encouraged to invite a supportive person (such as a family member, friend or sponsor) to attend group with them on Saturday mornings.
Weekdays: Meets 9 a.m. to noon four days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday) for six to eight weeks.
Evening/Weekends: Meets Wednesdays and Fridays (6 - 9 p.m.), Saturdays (9 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) for six to eight weeks.
Extended outpatient program
The outpatient program is intended as a step down from other levels of care. Ideally, individuals have participated in some level of treatment prior to participating in this program. Treatment is two days a week for three hours and typically last eight weeks. The curriculum focuses on living in emotional balance, concentrating on Steps Four through Nine.
