In addition, the affiliation between Hazelden and the College Student Program at Columbia University's Department of Psychiatry brings together a state-of-the-art treatment program and seamless continuum of care that meets the unique needs of young adults during and after addiction treatment. Columbia's program is designed specifically for college students who have had to interrupt their education to obtain intensive alcohol and drug treatment and those who continue their classes but need a high level of structure and support. - Is the program open to all colleges and universities in New York?

If the resident terminates the agreement prior to move-in, the first month fee is non-refundable. If the resident terminates the agreement after move-in, the first 90-day program fees are non-refundable. The program fees may be refunded for a good cause, including Hazelden's recommendation for referral to a higher level of care, acute medical emergency, family emergency, expulsion from school and military service. - Is there financial aid available?
Costs of the housing may be funded through student loans in accordance with student loan requirements. Program scholarships may be available through donor funding for financially qualifying students. - What is the admission process?
After an initial determination of eligibility for admission based on a phone or in-person interview, the prospective resident will complete an application form along with a non-refundable payment of $300 to cover the application fees. Prior to admission, an in-person or telephone screening and drug testing will be completed. - What is the refund policy if a resident relapses?
If a resident relapses and is discharged from the program at Hazelden's request, the remainder of the monthly service fees are non-refundable. If any monthly program fees have been prepaid for future months, those funds will be refunded, less any amounts billed for ancillary services (non-routine drug tests, special services). - What is the refund policy if the resident elects to leave the program for any reason?
After admission to the program, if a resident elects to leave the program for any reason unrelated to a discharge at Hazelden's request, the resident remains responsible for payment of the remaining term of the agreement, up to 90 days. In Hazelden' sole discretion, the remaining fees due and payable may be adjusted. - Are any of the services eligible for payment by health insurance?
The recovery support in the residence program is not eligible for insurance payment. Professional treatment and continuing care services may be reimbursed by commercial insurance.
